About

The trek begins with a steep climb through dense forests, with the trail passing through small streams and waterfalls. The lush greenery and the sound of gushing water make the trek a serene and tranquil experience. The trek is of moderate difficulty and takes around 5-6 hours to complete.

As the trek continues, you'll come across several small villages and hamlets, offering a glimpse into the local way of life. The trek then leads you through meadows and pastures, where you'll get a chance to witness the grazing cattle and sheep. The panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys are truly breathtaking and offer a great opportunity for photography.

The mythology associated with the Kheerganga trek adds to its spiritual significance and attracts trekkers from across the country. According to Hindu mythology, the Kheerganga trek holds great religious significance. The legend has it that Lord Shiva, the Hindu God of destruction, meditated at Kheerganga for several years. The story goes that when Lord Shiva and his consort, Goddess Parvati, were on their way to Kullu, they stopped at Kheerganga to take rest. While resting, Lord Shiva's sweat mixed with the water from the hot springs, turning it into Kheer (a sweet rice pudding). It is said that Lord Shiva was so pleased with the place that he blessed it with healing powers and declared it to be his abode.

About

Itinerary

Day - 1

Arrive in Kasol

After arriving in Kasol, it's a good idea to take some time to rest before embarking on your adventures. Once you're ready, head out to explore the scenic riverside and organic farm at TRO. From there, make your way to the markets of Kasol, where you'll discover an array of amazing hippie shopping opportunities and can indulge in some mouthwatering Israeli cuisine at the local cafes of Kasol.

Day - 2

Drive to Barshaini and Trek up till Kheerganga

Drive to Tosh and Trek up
till Kutla

Our Kheerganga trek begins bright and early at around 7 am from the quaint village of Barshaini. We make a quick pitstop to grab some breakfast before we set out on our journey. The trek to Rudranaag is relatively easy, providing us with the perfect opportunity to rest and recharge before the path becomes a little steeper.

As we continue on our adventure, the terrain gradually becomes more challenging, and it takes us roughly 3 hours to reach our destination: Kheerganga. The vast, majestic mountains and open meadows greet us as we finally reach our destination.

After a long day of trekking, we settle down for a peaceful evening under the starry sky, enjoying the warmth of a bonfire. It's the perfect time to connect with our fellow travelers, share stories, and take in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Day - 3

Friendly hike till Vrindavan

Since one day and night is not nearly enough to fully appreciate the beauty of Kheerganga, we decide to extend our stay for another day. On this day, we embark on a hike to Vrindavan, where we cook some mouth-watering snacks and engage in some fun activities with our fellow trekkers. Perhaps a game of frisbee or cricket to pass the time?

The additional day spent in Kheerganga allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the breathtaking mountain scenery and breathe in the fresh, crisp air. We can't help but fall in love with the stunning landscapes and serene atmosphere, making it all the more difficult to say goodbye when the time comes to leave.
